Biography:

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, July 30, 1934.  Attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute; Atlantic Christian College, B.S., 1958; East Carolina University, M.A., 1961; University of Maryland, 1961-65.  Married; three children.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Frederick County, 1983-94.  Deputy majority whip.  Member, Economic Matters Committee; chair, Unemployment Insurance Subcommittee.  Past member, Joint Committee on Federal Relations; Tort and Insurance Reform Oversight Committee, 1993.  House chair, Joint Subcommittee on Unemployment Insurance Taxation and Charging.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Served in U.S. Army Security Agency, three wars.  Math teacher, guidance counselor, vice principal.  Principal of Thurmont Middle School, Brunswick, Governor Thomas Johnson and Linganore High Schools; retired 1984.  Licensed general contractor.  Member, National and Maryland Associations of Secondary School Principals.  Member, Lewistown Fire Department; Frederick Builders Association; National Association of Home Builders; Maryland Transportation Commission, 1996-2000.  Member, Board of Trustees, Blind Industries & Service of Maryland.  Member, Jeffersonian Patriotic Club; United Democrats of Frederick County; Lions; Elks; Masonic Lodge; Shrine.  Life member, Phi Delta Kappa.  Deacon, First Baptist Church.
