Biography:

Born in Durham, North Carolina, September 13, 1949.  Attended Sidwell Friends School, Washington, D.C.; Harvard University, A.B., 1972; Oxford University, Oxford, England; Westminster Seminary, M.Div., 1977.  Married; three children.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Anne Arundel County, 1983-86.  Member, Environmental Matters Committee; Chesapeake Bay Critical Areas Joint Oversight Committee.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Director, Anne Arundel County Drug and Alcohol Program, 1979-83.  Community programs specialist.  President, National Federation of Parents for Drug-Free Youth, 1983-84.  Member, Governor's Advisory Council on Drug Abuse.  Member, Broadneck, Eastport, and Greater Annapolis Democratic Clubs.  Co-author, Drug Facts Ready Reference, a manual for educators.  Planner, moderator: "Teenage Drug Abuse:  What Can Parents Do?," television special.  Script consultant, participant; "The Chemical People Project," PBS television special.  Honorary chair, Maryland Chemical People Project.  Nominee, Ten Outstanding Young Men of America, 1984.  Selected one of Ten Outstanding Young Marylanders, 1984, Jaycees; Legislator of the Year, 1983, MADD, Anne Arundel County Chapter; Legislator of the Year, 1983, Anne Arundel County Psychological Association.  Cited for legislative work by American Lung Association, Maryland chapter.
