Robert Hall

Biography:

Robert Hall served as Clerk of the Court for Anne Arundel County from March 8, 1708/9 until June 1711.  He was then transferred to the same position for Prince George's County, where he served until his death in December 1719.1  There are no records of Hall holding land in Anne Arundel County, but he did purchase a tract of land called "Indenture" from Thomas Linch on February 27, 1713.2  There is mention of a Robert Hall obtaining a certificate for land in Talbot County, but he did not receive a patent for this land.3  Hall was married to a woman named Elizabeth, who was mentioned in his will.  No records mention any children that the couple may have had.  In his will, Hall left one-third of his estate to Elizabeth.  The rest of his estate was left to men who do not appear to be related to Hall:  Benjamin Allen, Josiah Wilson, Mr. James Haddock, and Nelson Jefferson.  In his will, he also freed his servant, Richard Chubbard.4  The estimated total value of Robert Hall's estate was
£ 65:4:1 1/2.  The items included in his inventory were clothes, furniture, books, linens, a gray horse, and his servant, Richard Chubbard.5
