In the name of God Amen.
I, William B. Hill of Prince George's County in
the State of Maryland being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding
do make publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking
all former wills by me at any time heretofore made, in manner and form
following that is to say:
I hereby direct that all my just debts including
funeral expenses and expenses of administration be fully paid, and the
same are hereby made a charge upon the estates hereinafter devised to my
daughters Esther, Annie and Helen in proportion of one third of my debts
upon the estate devised to each of them, the land herinafter devised to
the widow and children of my deceased son William M. Hill to be free and
clear of any portion of my debts.
I give devise and bequeath my farm known as Ashland
as it now stands except about twenty-three acres, now in the enclosure
of said farm purchased by my daughter Esther G. Hill of the real estate
formerly belonging to my late brother Clement Hill and adjoining the Ashland
farm to Aimee H. Hill the widow and to James H. Hill and Anna M. Hill the
children of my deceased son William M. Hill in manner and form following
that is to say as to one undivided third thereof to said Aimee H. Hill
during her natural life and as to the remaining two undivided thirds thereof
and said one undivided third subject to said life estate, to said James
H. and Anna M. Hill their heirs and assigns as tenants in common together
with all the improvements rights ways easements privileges hereditaments
and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining.
I give and devise and bequeath to my daughter Esther
G. Hill her heirs and assigns that portion of my land now known as Woodland
upon which my dwelling house now stands, and is contained within the limits
of the survey lately made by Thomas H. Latimer being (361) three hundred
and sixty one acres of land more or less, also a piece of land lying in
Anne Arundel County contiguous to Hill's bridge and which was taken up
under a warrant of survey bearing date Nov. 8th 1853 granted out of the
land office of Maryland and called Marshfield except so much thereof as
I have heretofore deeded to the Woodland Bridge Company as a road to said
bridge together with all the improvements rights ways easements privileges
hereditaments and appurtenances belonging or in any wise appertaining.
I also give and bequeath to my daughter Esther G. Hill my carriages and
harness and a pair of carriage horses, also (50) fifty shares of the stock
of the Woodland Bridge Company now standing in my name, and all my household
furniture of every description not disposed of by gifts during my life
to members of my family except my silver and china which I wish divided
equally between my three daughters Esther G. & Annie S. Hill, and Helen
M. Beale share and share alike.
I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Annie
S. Hill her heirs and assigns my farm now known as Stratford being so much
of what was formerly known as Woodland as lies north of the public road
leading from Hill's bridge to Upper Marlboro and not heretofore bequeathed
to my daughter Esther G. Hill, together with all the improvements rights,
ways, easements privileges hereditaments and appurtenances to the same
belonging or in any wise appertaining.
I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Helen
M. Beale her heirs and assigns or in case she should die during my life
time, to such lawful issue as she may leave surviving her my farm known
as "Green Landing" as it now stands with all that part of the river shore
lying between the point of beginning of the land hereinbefore devised to
my daughter Esther G. Hill and the land of Charles Traband together with
all improvements rights, ways, easements, privileges, hereditaments and
appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining.
All the rest and residue of my estate including
such portions of the proceeds of the insurance policies or my life in the
Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and the New York Life Insurance Company
numbered respectively 6847 and 30420 as I am entitled to under certain
assignments executed by my children, all my farm stock and utensils all
my crops growing at time of my death and any and all other estate real
personal or to which I may then be entitled. I give, devise and bequeath
to my daughters Esther G. Hill, Annie S. Hill and Helen M. Beale their
heirs executors administrators and assigns in equal portion share and share
alike.
I direct that my executors pay to any Roman Catholic Priest who will
perform the funeral ceremonies over my remains the sum of (50) fifty dollars
with a request that he will offer up the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for
the repose of my soul.
Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my daughter
Esther G. Hill, and son-in-law, Buchanan Beale and the survivor of them
Executrix and Executor of this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this twenty seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and eighty seven.

memory and understanding and capable of executing a valid deed or contract;
that they signed said will as witness thereto at the request of the testator
in his presence and in the presence of each other.
