Born in Hartford, Connecticut, February 19, 1946.  Attended College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minnesota, B.A. 1968; Catholic University of America, M.A., American history, 1970.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Montgomery County, 1981-90.  Member, Ways and Means Committee, 1981-88; Economic Matters Committee, 1988-90.
Senate, District 17, 1991-94.  Member, Judicial Proceedings Committee; Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive and Legislative Review; Special Joint Committee on Economic Development Strategy.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
History teacher, Rockville High School.  Member, Governor's High Technology Roundtable, 1983-86; Labor and Commerce Committee of National Conference of State Legislatures.  Member, Montgomery County Charter Review Commission, 1977-80.  Recipient, Distinguished Service Award, Maryland Municipal League, 1982; Hornbook Award, Montgomery County Education Association, 1984.  Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 1988, 1992.  President, Women Legislators of Maryland, 1990-91 (president-elect, 1989-90).  Member, Governor's Commission on Women's Health, 1993-95.  Director of Leadership Program at American University's School of Public Affairs and Director of the AU Ireland Leadership Program.
