Biography:

Born Margaret E. Jefferson in Chestertown, Maryland. Attended, Washington College, 1929. Married Omar D. "Gus" Crothers, Jr. (d. 1953), 1939; one son, Omar D. "Chip" Crothers, III. Married Carle A. Jackson (1906-1995), son of Howard W. Jackson, 1960. Died June 1, 2003, in Towson, Maryland.

Maryland Senate, Cecil County, 1953-1955. Appointed to replace her husband, Omar D. Crothers, Jr., who died in office. She was the second woman to serve in the Maryland Senate. Chairwoman, Eastern Shore Chapter of the United Democratic Women's Clubs. President, Democratic Women's Clubs of Cecil County. Co-chair, Dr. Harry Clifton "Curley" Bird's campaign for governor in 1954. Member, Red Cross; Elkridge Club.
