Born in Washington, D.C., August 14, 1941.  Attended Walter Johnson High School, Bethesda, Maryland; Montgomery College, A.A., 1962; Frostburg
State College, B.S., 1964; Virginia Polytechnic Institute, M.A., 1982, Ed.D., 1985.  Married; two children.
