Biography:

Born in Baltimore, September 17, 1926. Loyola High School. Served in U.S. Navy, 1944-46. Loyola College; University of Baltimore School of Law, J.D., 1957. Admitted to Maryland Bar, 1957. Admitted to practice, U.S. Supreme Court, 1963. Died in Baltimore, July 17, 1999.

Magistrate, Housing Court of Baltimore City, 1959-61. Assistant attorney general of Maryland, 1961-64. Chief of Criminal Division, Office of Attorney General, 1964-66. Deputy attorney general of Maryland 1966-71. Chief Judge, District Court of Maryland, 1971-1996. Board of Trustees, Villa Julie College. Co-founder, Advocate Club of Baltimore (pres., 1960). Member, Executive Committee, Maryland Judicial Conference. Member, Governor's Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice, 1971-82; Task Force on Violence and Extremism, 1981-87; Maryland Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, 1982-87; Task Force on Mentally Ill Offenders, 1985-86; Governor's Advisory Board for Juvenile Assistance, 1987-97; Drunk and Drugged Driving Task Force, 1988. Member, Maryland State Bar Association (vice-pres., 1969-70).
