Born in Baltimore, Maryland, May 10, 1949.  Attended Friends School, Baltimore; Cornell University, B.A. (history), cum laude, 1971; University of Maryland School of Law, J.D., 1974.  Admitted to Maryland Bar, 1975.

Associate Judge, District Court of Maryland, District 1, Baltimore City, April 23, 1993 to June 30, 2011. Retired June 30, 2011. Member, Family and Domestic Relations Law Committee, 1993-2001, Maryland Judicial Conference; Commission on Judicial Disabilities, 2002-11 (vice-chair, 2006-11). Member, District Court Chief Judge's Committee, 2015-, and Retired and Recalled Judges Committee, 2015-, Judicial Council. Advocacy director, Maryland State Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities, 1975-76. Assistant attorney general, and principal counsel to Department of Human Resources, 1980-93.

Staff attorney and full-time lecturer, Developmental Disabilities Law Project, University of Maryland School of Law, 1976-78. Directing attorney, Evergreen Legal Services, Port Angeles, Washington, 1978-80. Mediator and arbitrator, Creative Dispute Resolutions, LLC, 2011-. Member, Maryland State Bar Association, 1975-2000; Baltimore City Bar Association, 1987-2004; Women's Law Center of Maryland; Simon E. Sobeloff Law Society; National Association of Women Judges, 1993-2001. Member, J. Dudley Digges Inn of Court, 1992-2000 (president, 1996-97). Jennifer L. Robbins Award from Maryland Attorney General in recognition of special achievement in field of human services, 1991.
