Born in Baltimore; Maryland, December 23, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. Son of John G. Gary, Sr., and Elizabeth Irene Gary. One brother: William (d. 1983). Attended Glen Burnie Sr. High School; Anne Arundel Community College; University of Maryland, 1961-62. Married Ruthanne Neighoff (1943-2016), 1962; three children: Donna, Cynthia, and Gregory. Died on July 12, 2025.
