Born in Washington, D.C., October 22, 1946.  Attended District of Columbia Teacher's College, B.S., 1971; University of Maryland; George Washington University, M.S., 1975, Ed.D., 1984.  Two children.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Legislative District 25 (D), Prince George's County, 1987-90.  Member, Economic Matters Committee; Special Committee on Drug and Alcohol Abuse.  Chair, Legislative Committee, Women's Legislative Caucus.  Secretary, Legislative Black Caucus.  Coordinator, Minority Enterprise Conference for Legislative Black Caucus Business Roundtable.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Educational administrator, Division of Special Education, Washington, D.C., Public Schools.  Taught at Bowie State University.  Member, board of visitors, Afro-American Studies Department, University of Maryland College Park; advisory board, Prince George's County Family Crisis Center; Prince George's County Children's Council; District 7 Education Committee; executive boards, Suitland and Fleishmann Village Civic Associations.  President, board of directors, Monika Court Condominiums.  Elected to National Democratic Committee, 1988.  National Committeeperson, Democratic State Central Committee of Maryland, 1991-92.  Delegate, 1992 Democratic Party National Convention.  Vice-chair, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, 2000.  Member, Council for Exceptional Children; League of Women Voters; Business and Professional Women's Club; Rainbow Coalition; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society; Phi Delta Kappa.
