Kay Bienen
Kay Linda Gumbinner Bienen, 67, of Odenton, died of chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease May 31 at home.
Born Jan. 1, 1938, in New York City, Mrs. Bienen earned a master of
science degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y,
She served as a Democrat in the House of Delegates for two terms and
then worked as a professional lobbyist. Her last position was executive
director of the Association of Community Colleges of Maryland. During
her career, she lobbied for the rights of the handicapped and for
environmental matters in the state.
Her interests included sewing and needlepoint.
Surviving are two daughters, Laura Jeanne Bienen of Odenton and Janet
Susan Bienen of Luray, Va.; one brother, Paul Gumbinner of New York;
and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Taylor
Funeral Home Chapel, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Burial is
private.
