Born in Brunswick, Maryland, December 18, 1948.  Attended Brunswick public schools; Frederick Community College; University of Baltimore, B.S., 1973.  Married; two children.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Carroll and Frederick counties, 1975-82.  Member, House Economic Matters Committee.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
President and owner, American Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc.  Chair, State Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, & Refrigeration Contractors, 1994-97.  Secretary, Frederick Mutual Insurance Company, Frederick, Maryland.  Owner, Smith's Evergreen Nursery, Wilson, North Carolina.  President, Brunswick Slo-pitch Softball League; Brunswick Lions Club.  Member, Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company; Jefferson Ruritan Club; Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company.
