Biography:

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, March 6, 1915.  Son of Russian immigrants.  Attended Baltimore City College and Towson State College.  Received LL.B., University of Baltimore Law School, 1937.  Admitted to the Bar, 1937.  Married, Gertrude Naditch (d. 1962); Florence Frahm, 1963: five children, Linda Hershberg, Debra Tyrangiel, Jeffrey Liss, Steve Gilden, and Marcia Caplan.  Died in Baltimore, October 18, 1988.

Police Court Magistrate, Southern District, 1943-1947.  Baltimore City Council, 4th District, 1954-1972.  Chair, Public Service Commission, 1964-1968.  Appointed to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1968.  Appointed to Court of Special Appeals, 1976.  Chair, Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission, 1984-1988.  B'nai B'rith Man of the Year; Heritage Award, Yeshiva University; Jewish National Fund Man of the Year.  Member, American, Maryland State, and Baltimore City Bar Associations; American Trial Lawyers Association; Cassia Lodge, Masons; Yedz Grotto; past president, Golden Eagle Square and Compass Club; chairman, Executive Committee, Maryland Judicial Conference; board member, Beth Jacob Congregation.
