Biography:

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, November 22, 1920.  Graduated, Baltimore City College, 1938.  Attended Johns Hopkins University; University of Virginia, B.A., 1941; Harvard School of Law, J.D., 1947.  Married, Beverly Edelman (d. 1997), 1948; three children, Robert B. Levin, Burton H. Levin, and Susan L. Leiman.  Died in Baltimore, February 1, 2004.

Served in U.S. Navy during World War II, attained rank of lieutenant.  State Department of Legal Reference, 1948-1949.  Assistant City Solicitor, 1949.  Magistrate at-large, 1951-1959.  Judge, Housing Court of Baltimore City, 1955-1959.  Appointed to Supreme Bench of Baltimore City (Baltimore City Circuit Court), 1971.  Retired as judge, September, 1987.  Special master, asbestos-injury cases, 1987-1992.  Continued to act as substitute judge until January 2004.  in 1952, as an attorney for Urban League, helped to win admission for black students into Polytechnic Institute, the first case of public school integration in Maryland.
