Born in Baltimore, Maryland, March 12, 1930.  Attended Princeton University; The Johns Hopkins University, A.B., 1953; M.A., 1954.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Baltimore County, 1967-78.  Minority leader, 1971-75.  Senate, District 5, 1975-78.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Served in U.S. Army.  Farmer.  Member, Maryland Civil War Centennial Commission, 1961-65; Baltimore County Board of Recreation and Parks, 1963-78.  Member, Legislative Council, 1971-75.  Editor, Maryland Conservationist.  Assistant editor, Maryland Historical Magazine.  Member, Republican State Central Committee of Maryland; advisory board, Department of Natural Resources.  Chair, Wildlife Advisory Commission.  Board member, Maryland Historical Trust; Chesapeake Bay Foundation; National Audubon Society.  Member, Phi Beta Kappa; Farm Bureau; Izaak Walton League.  Received Legislator of the Year Award, Maryland Wildlife Federation, 1975.
