226516. Sir Anthony Aucher (114) (179) was born about 1500. He died on Jan 9 1558 in Calais, France. Sir Anthony Aucher was one of the agents of King Henry VIII in the suppression of the monasteries. He held a number of important offices, including master of the Jewel House of the Tower of London.

In 1558 he was Governor of Guisnes and Master of Calais, commanding its defense in the siege that resulted in its capture on Jan 7 1558. He died of wounds received there two days later.

He and his wife are buried at Bishopsbourne in County Kent, where their inscription is still to be seen. He was married to Affra Cornwallis probably 1525.

226517. Affra Cornwallis (114) was living in 1519. She died in 1557. Children were:
