The Magruder family is today a sept of Clan Gregor through acceptance by the Chiefs, but whether, as claimed, it was such a sept in ancient times is doubtful. Children were:

John Magruder.113408. James Magruder
(114) was born about 1519. He died about 1593. James Magruder came
from Craigneach, Glenartney, Perthshire and was a retainer of Lord Drummond.
He was declared a rebel for a raid with Lord Ruthven and the Protestant lords
on Leith in 1547.
