TWELFTH GENERATION

3864. Deacon Samuel Bass ^(278)(170) was born about 1600 in probably Saffron Walden, Essex. He died on Dec 30 1694 in Braintree, Massachusetts. Deacon Samuel Bass arrived in Massachusetts in 1633, in Roxbury, where he was admitted to membership in the Reverend John Eliot's church. Not long afterwards he moved to Braintree, where he lived the rest of his life.

The town records of Braintree record that "Deacon Samuel Bass, aged 94, departed this life upon the 30th Day of December 1694, who had bin a Deacon of the Church of Braintree for the space of 50 years, and was the father and grandfather and great grandfather of a hundred and sixty and two children before he died, the youngest whereof was Benimin Bas, the son of Joseph Bas and Mary his wife, born seven days before his death."

He represented the town in twelve General Courts, serving on important committees. A farmer by trade, owning 166 acres in and near Braintree, he nevertheless found the time to serve as selectman innumerable times.

Samuel Bass and Ann Savell are the 8th great grandparents of President Calvin Coolidge. He was married to Ann Savell in England.

3865. Ann Savell ⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born before Apr 26 1601 in probably Saffron Walden, Essex. She died in 1693 in Braintree, Massachusetts. Children were:

i. Samuel Bass⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born before May 11 1626 in Saffron Walden, Essex. He died before 1653.
ii. Mary Bass was born in 1631. She died on Jun 29 1704.
1924 iii. John Bass.
iv. Hannah Bass⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born before Nov 25 1632 in Saffron Walden, Essex. She died living 1710.
v. Ruth Bass⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born about 1637 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
vi. Thomas Bass was born about 1635. He died on Jan 18 1719/20.
vii. Sarah Bass⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born on Apr 26 1643 in Braintree, Massachusetts. She died about Sep 1739.
viii. Joseph Bass⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ was born about 1639 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He died after Apr 5 1710.
