2958. Sir Draner Massingberd (297) (201) was born on Dec 11 1615. He died on May 11 1689. Sir Draner Massingberd was a third son, but he inherited very considerable property from his maternal grandmother, Joan Draner, who settled on him the manor of Hinxworth, in Hertfordshire. His grandmother's fortune also enabled him to buy the manor of Ormsby in Lincolnshire in 1638. He was trained as a lawyer and admitted to the Society of the Inner Temple on May 11, 1633.

He fought on the side of Parliament in the Civil War, raising a troop of horse and serving as its captain. He also served as Colonel of a troop of horse under the Commonwealth in 1650. He was Sheriff of Lincolnshire from 1655 to 1657. At the restoration, although covered by both the Act of Oblivion and the general pardon issued by Charles II, he received a special pardon and was knighted by the King on Feb 17 1661. He was married to Anne Mildmay about Nov 25 1678.
