Biography:

Born Winder Laird Henry on December 20, 1864 near Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland. Son of Susan Elizabeth (Goldsborough) Henry and Daniel Maynadier Henry. Attended local public schools. Admitted to the Bar, 1898. Married, Martha Adkins (d. 1924), 1894. One son, W. Laird Henry, Jr. Died in Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland on July 5, 1940. Buried Christ Episcopal Cemetery, Cambridge.

Owner and editor, Cambridge Chronicle. Banker and businessman. Attorney in private practice. U.S. House of Representatives, 1894-1895; elected to fill vacancy created by death of Robert Franklin Bratton. Worked on staff of Governor John Walter Smith, 1899-1903. State Land Commissioner, 1908. Judge, Court of Appeals, 1908-1909. Member, Public Service Commission, 1914-1916. Practiced law in partnership with son, 1921-1940. Vice-president, Eastern Shore Trust Company. President, Cambridge Hospital.
