Biography:

Born James Enos Ray, Jr., January 12, 1874, in Chillum, Prince George's County, Maryland.  Son of James Enos and Gertrude (Shreve) Ray.  Attended University of Maryland; Georgetown University Law School.  Admitted to the Maryland bar, April 8, 1897.  Married to Isabel Arthur.  Died September 10, 1934, in Chillum, Prince George's County, Maryland.  Buried at Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

House of Delegates, Prince George's County, 1904-1908. (D) Speaker Pro Tem, 1906. Speaker of the House, 1908. Presidential Elector, 1909. Lost 1909 bid for State Senate and 1910 election for Congress.

Lawyer. President, Prince George's Bank & Trust Co. Director, Lincoln National Bank. Appointed State auditor in 1912. Chair, State Tax Commission; Democratic State Central Committee. Collector of Interal Revenue at Baltimore. Past president, Chillum Castle Mason's Lodge. Past patron, Ada Chapter of the Eastern Star.
