Andrew Hunter Boyd (1849-1935)

Biography:

Born in Winchester, Virginia, July 15, 1849.  Son of Rev. A. H. H. Boyd (d. 1865).  Attended Washington and Lee University, 1866-68; the University of Virginia, 1868-69, LL.B., 1871.  Married Berien M. Thurston in December, 1874.  Died August 2, 1935.

Deputy Clerk, office of the Allegany County Clerk, 1869-70.  Practiced law in Cumberland after 1871.  State's Attorney for Allegany County, 1876-80.  Chief judge,  Allegany County Circuit Court, 4th Judicial Circuit, 1893-1907.  Associate judge, Maryland Court of Appeals, 1893-1907; chief judge, 1907-24.  Honorary Doctor of Laws, Washington College, 1906.
