Robert F. Brattan (1845-1894)

Biography:

Born in Barren Creek Springs, Somerset (now Wicomico) County, May 13, 1845.  Attended Washington College, Chestertown, graduated 1864.  Studied law; admitted to the Maryland Bar, 1867.   Died May 10, 1894.  Buried in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Deputy register of wills for Somerset County.  Member of the State convention of 1865 which sent delegates to a peace convention held in Philadelphia in the following year.  Engaged in the practice of law in Princess Anne, Somerset County.  House of Delegates, Somerset County, 1870.  Senate, Somerset County, 1874-1890.  Senate president, 1890.  U.S. Representative, 1893-94 (Democrat).
