Isaac Dashiell Jones (1806-1893)

Biography:

Born at "Wetcpquin," Somerset County, now Wicomico County, November 1, 1806.  Son of Benjamin Jones and wife Priscilla. Presbyterian.  Attended Washington Academy, Somerset County.  Admitted to the bar.  Married Eliza Hays.  Died in Baltimore City, July 5, 1893.  Interred in Green Mount Cemetery, Baltimore City.

Tutor at the Washington Academy in Somerset County, and praticed law in Princess Anne. Director, Maryland State School for the Deaf, Frederick, 1867-93. Director, Maryland School for the Colored Blind and Deaf, Baltimore, 1872-93.

House of Delegates, Somerset County, 1832, 1834, 1840-41, and 1867. Member, U.S. House of Representatives, 1841-43. Delegate, Constitutional Conventions of 1864 and 1867, Somerset County. Attorney General, 1867-71. Elected as a judge, Court of Arbitration, Board of Trade, 1878.
