A crowd of 500 attended a fund-raiser in Woodlawn last night where
state Comptroller William Donald Schaefer announced he would seek a
second term.
Schaefer was introduced by longtime aide Gene Raynor, state schools
Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick and Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy
Townsend.
The event raised $200,000, Raynor said. Schaefer, 80, has said that
retirement is not an option and that he has more he wants to accomplish
in
government.
