Nicholas Thomas (d. 1784)

Biography:

Born in Talbot County, Maryland.  Son of William Thomas (1705-1767) and Elizabeth Allen Thomas.  Unmarried.  Resided in Talbot County.  Died late February 1784.

Lawyer admitted to practice in the Queen Anne's County Court, 1759; Talbot County Court, 1759; Provincial Court, 1760; Cecil County Court, 1760; Somerset County Court, 1765; and Dorchester County Court, 1773.  Served in the Lower House representing Talbot County, 1768-70; 1771, 1773-78 (speaker, 1777-78).  Quartermaster general, 4th Battalion, Talbot County Militia, appointed January 14, 1776, resigned August 8, 1776.  Council of Safety, Eastern Shore, 1776-77.  Judge, General Court, 1778-82.
