Biography:

Born December 3, 1733, in Cambridge, Maryland.  Son of Charles and Elizabeth (Ennalls) Goldsborough.  Attended Middle Temple, London, England, in December 1752; graduated from the College of Philadelphia, 1760.  Married Sarah Yerbury, March 27, 1755, in England.  Children: Charles (c. 1756-c. 1759), Charles (1761-1801), John (by 1766-?), Robert (c. 1766-1790), William, Richard, Howes, Rebecca (c. 1757-?), Sarah (c. 1758-by 1832), Elizabeth, and Rachel (?-1811). Died December 22, 1788, in Dorchester County, Maryland.  Buried, Cambridge Courtyard, Dorchester County, Maryland.

Lawyer, practiced in London, England, 1757. Returned to Maryland, 1759. Sheriff, Dorchester County, 1761-64. Lower House, Dorchester County, 1765-66. Attorney General, 1766-68. Delegate, Maryland Constitutional Convention, 1774-76. Delegate, Continental Congress, 1774-76.  Member, Council of Safety, Eastern Shore, 1775-77. Senate, Eastern Shore, 1777-83; elected, but did not serve, 1783-84.  Judge, Court of Appeals for Tax Assessement, Dorchester County, appointed 1786. Delegate, Constitutional Ratification Convention, Dorchester County, 1788. Member, Great Choptank Parish Vestry.
