SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.

AN ACT concerning

Currency Exchange Law

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the seller of a check, draft,
or money order under the Currency Exchange Law from
charging a service fee to any purchaser redeeming an
unused check, draft, or money order.

BY adding to

Article 11 - Banks and Trust Companies

Section 219A(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 1 1 - Banks and Trust Companies

219A.

(C) A LICENSEE MAY NOT CHARGE A SERVICE FEE TO ANY
ORIGINAL PURCHASER REDEEMING AN UNUSED CHECK, DRAFT, OR
MONEY ORDER.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1978.
