Comand was given to y^e Sher^f. of Kent County y^e 27. day of August Anno Domⁱ. 1700 that he take Jame[s]
Daulton of y^e Said County Planter if he Should found in his bailiwick & him Safe keep Soe that he have hi[s]
body before his maj^ties Justices at y^e then Court Sitting to Answer unto Thomas Bulcock of A plea of
Trespass upon y^e Case
On which Day came Elias King high Sher^f. of Said County y^e Day of y^e Returne of Said writt and made
returne thereof in these words Viz^t. cepi corpus p^r Elias King Sher^f.
The which cause was Continued from Court to Court untill this p^rSent Court Viz^t. & 28. day of Nov^r.
Annoq Domⁱ. 1700 and now y^e Said Cause Standing for Tryall y^e Plaint. Decl^s

Kent Ss	James Daulton of Said County planter Stands attached to Answer unto Thomas Bulcock of a plea
	of Trespass upon y^e Case

And whereupon y^e Said Thomas Bulcock by Richard Macklin his Attorney Sayes that whereas y^e Said
James Att Chester River within y^e Jurisdiction of this Court & Twenty Second day of Ap^ll. Anno Domⁱ. 1699
by his Certaine Script or bill whose Date is y^e Afs^d. day & yeare & hereinto Court brought did oblidge
himselfe his heires Ex^rs. or Adm^r. to pay unto y^e Said Thomas Bulcock or order y^e Sume of five hundred
and twenty pounds of good merchantable Tob^o. in Casque Upon demand in consideracon thereof y^e Said James
upon himself Assumed & unto y^e Said Thomas faithfully did promise that he y^e Said James when thereunto
required y^e Said Sume of five hundred & twenty pounds of Tob^o unto y^e Said Thomas he would pay yet notwithstand
:ing y^e Said James the Said five hundred & twenty pounds of Tob^o. According to y^e ten^r. of y^e Same bill or Script
hath not paid Altho often Demanded but y^e Same to pay hath denyed and Still doth deny & refuse to y^e damage
of y^e Said Thomas one Thousand pounds of Tob^o. and thereupon he brings this Suite            Jn^o Doe
                                                                                      Macklin p^r q^r. pledges &^a.            Rich^d Roe
And y^e Thomas Bulcock Plaint. by his Said Attorney prayes that y^e Said Defendant James Daulton might
Appeare & Answer to his Declⁿ. who being Called came not nor any for him but made Default wherefore
Judgem^t. was awarded for y^e Said Sume of five hundred & Twenty pounds of Tob^o & Cost

Therefore it is Considered by y^e Court here Viz^t. y^e 28. day of Novem^r. Anno Domⁱ. 1700 That y^e Said
Plaint. Thomas Bulcock doe recover from y^e Said Defendant James Daulton as well y^e Sume of five
hundred & Twenty pounds of Tob^o. Debt as alsoe y^e Sume of Two hundred Twenty & Nine pounds of Tob^o.

27. Day of March Anno Domⁱ. 1700 That he take James Donavant alius dictus James Donavant of Chester
in y^e County of Kent in y^e Province of Maryland planter if he Should be found in his bailiwick & him Safe
keep Soe that he have his body before his maj^ties Justices at y^e next Court to be held for Said County to
answer unto Flower Walker of old England Tinnplateworker of A plea that he render unto him & full &
just Sume of five hundred forty & five pounds of Tob^o. in Casque &^a.
Att which Next Court Viz^t. & 26 day of March Anno Domⁱ. 1700 alsoe y^e 25 day of June Anno Domⁱ.
1700 y^e Day of y^e returne of Said writt came Elias King high Sher^f. of Said County & made returne of
Said writt in these words Viz^t.    Non Est Inventus    p^r                 Elias King Sher^f.
Comand was likewise given to y^e Sher^f. of Kent County y^e 27. day of August Anno Domⁱ. 1700 That he tak[e]
James Donavant alius Dictus James Donavant of Chester in y^e County of Kent & Province of Maryland
Planter if found in his bailiwick & him Safe keepe Soe that he have his body before his maj^ties Justices
at this p^rSent Court to Answer unto Flower Walker of old England Tinn plateworker of A plea that he ren[der]
him y^e full & just Sume of five hundred forty & five pounds of Tob^o in Casque &^a
On which Said Day y^e day of y^e returne of Said writt came Elias King high [Sher^f. of] Said County & made
returne thereof in these words Viz^t/ Cepi Corpus p^r                 Elias Ki[ng Sher^f.]
The which cause was continued untill this p^rSent Court & y^e Said Defendant comi[tted into] Custody for want of bail
And now here at this Day Viz^t. & 28. day of Novem^r. Anno Domⁱ. 1700 Ca[me y^e] Plaint. Flower
Flower Walker by Richard Macklin his Att^ry and the Said Defendant James [Donavant] neither by himselfe
nor his Att^ry Came but mad Default wherefore Judgement was awarded for y^e Said Debt & Cost of
Suite
Therefore it is Considered by y^e Court here Viz^t. y^e 28. Day of Novem^r. Anno Domⁱ. 1700 That y^e Said
Plaint. Flower Walker Doe recover from y^e Said Defendant James Donavant as well y^e Sume of five
hundred forty & five pounds of Tob^o. Debt as alsoe y^e Sume of Three hundred twenty & Seven pounds of
Tob^o. Cost of Suite and y^e Said James in mercy                                     Jn^o Dowdall Clk
