       Just sume of one thousand pounds of Lawfull Money of England to be paid
       to the s.d Francis Nicholson Esq.r his En.rs Adm.rs or assigns to the w.ch payment
       well and truly to be made We bind our selves we bond ou & either of us by himself
       our and either of our heirs Enecut.rs & Adminstrat.rs joyntly & severally
       for the whole & in the whole firmly by these p.rsents Wittness our
       hands and seals Novemb.r 19.th 1694

                                  The Condicon of the above written obligacon is
       such that whereas his En.ncy Francis Nicholson Esq.r hath Comissionated
       and appointed the said Cap.t W.m Dent to be Navall Officer for the
       upper parts of Charles County that is to say begining at Portobacco
       and soe upwards to the head of the said County in the said province
       by his Comission bearing equall date w.th these p.rsents Now if the
       said Cap.t W.m Dent shall well & truly perform the s.d Office according
       to the sev.ll acts of parliam.t in that case made & provided And shall
       observe the directions contained in the acts of Assembly of this
       province relateing to the duty of Navall Officers & from time
       to time save defend & keep harmless the said Francis Nicholson
       Esq.r from all Damage Loss & charges that the y.e s.d Francis Nicholson
       Esq.r shall sustaine at any time by reason of the said Cap.t W.m
       Dents nonperformance of his said Office (soe Long as he shall
       enjoy the same) as in the said sev.ll Laws is Enacted & ordained
       then the above obligacon to be voyd & of none effect otherwise
       to be & remaine in full force & vertue

       all matters & things w.ch by the statute made in the 12.th
       year of his late Ma.ty King Charles the second his Reign Entituled
       an act for the Encourageing & Encreasing of shipping & Navigacon
       & by the other statute made in the 15.th year of his said
       Ma.tys Reign Entituled an act for the encouragement of
       trade You are required as Govern.r or Comander in chief of
       this plantacon to be sworne to the performance of
