978                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND                            [Ch. 4

NUMBERS.—A PERSON, WITH INTENT TO CHEAT OR DEFRAUD,
MAY NOT PLACE ON ANY CAR OR OTHER CONTAINER LOADED BY
ANY OTHER PERSON, A NUMBER OR CHECK NUMBER, OR CHANGE,
ALTER, OR REMOVE ANY NUMBER OR CHECK NUMBER.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears
as Article 66C, section 638 of the Code.
Violation of this subsection is covered by
the uniform penalty provision in subtitle
8. The only other changes made are in
style.

7-458. DUTY OF OPERATOR AS TO PAY OF WORKERS.

EVERY OPERATOR OF ANY MINE SHALL PAY, IN LAWFUL
MONEY OF THE UNITED STATES, EACH WORKER, LABORER, AND
WAGEWORKER, OR TO HIS AUTHORIZED AGENT, AT HIS PLACE
OF EMPLOYMENT, HIS CORRECT WAGE, AT INTERVALS OF NOT
MORE THAN 17 DAYS. AN OPERATOR MAY NOT REFUSE TO PAY
THE WAGE DUE ANY WORKER, LABORER, OR WAGEWORKER AT
THE PROPER TIME.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Article 66C, section 639 of the Code. The
reference to semimonthly is proposed for
deletion because it duplicates the 17 day
provision. The only other changes made are
in style.

7-459. PAYMENT OF WAGE ON DISCHARGE OF WORKER BY
OPERATOR.

IF AN OPERATOR OF ANY MINE DISCHARGES A WORKER,
ANY WAGE DUE THE WORKER, AND UNPAID AT THE TIME OF HIS
DISCHARGE BECOMES DUE AND PAYABLE IMMEDIATELY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Article 66C, section 640 of the Code. The
only changes made are in style.

7-460. UNAUTHORIZED PERSON NOT TO ENTER MINE.

A PERSON, NOT EMPLOYED IN THE MINE, MAY NOT ENTER
THE MINE UNLESS HE IS AUTHORIZED BY LAW TO DO SO OR
HAS THE MINE OPERATOR'S CONSENT. A PERSON ENTERING
THE MINE WITH THE OPERATOR'S CONSENT SHALL BE
ACCOMPANIED BY A COMPETENT GUIDE AUTHORIZED BY THE
OPERATOR.
