WHERE A DANGEROUS QUANTITY OF METHANE MAY BE PRESENT,

OR ENTER THE AIR CURRENT.

as Article 66C, section 592(b) of the
Code. The only changes made are in style.

(C) KEEPING IN REPAIR.--___PERMISSIBLE EQUIPMENT

SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN A GOOD STATE OF REPAIR AND IN
PERMISSIBLE CONDITION. EXPLOSION-TESTED EQUIPMENT
SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN A GOOD STATE OF REPAIR AND IN
EXPLOSION-TESTED CONDITION.

(B) OPERATION WHERE METHANE CAN BE DETECTED.—NO
ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN EQUIPMENT MAY BE TAKEN INTO OR
OPERATED IN A WORKING PLACE WHERE ONE PERCENT OR MORE
METHANE CAN BE DETECTED AT ANY POINT NOT LESS THAN 12
INCHES FROM THE ROOF, FACE, OR RIB. IN ANY FACE
WORKING OF A GASSY MINE, INSPECTION FOR METHANE SHALL
BE MADE BEFORE ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT IS TAKEN INTO OR
OPERATED IN THE FACE REGION. FREQUENT TESTS SHALL BE
MADE FOR METHANE WHILE THE EQUIPMENT IS OPERATED IN
THE FACE REGION.

(E)    ELECTRIC DRILLS AND ROTATING TOOLS.—ANY
ELECTRIC DRILL OR OTHER ELECTRICALLY OPERATED ROTATING
TOOL INTENDED TO BE HELD IN THE HAND SHALL HAVE THE
ELECTRIC SWITCH CONSTRUCTED TO BREAK THE CIRCUIT WHEN
THE HAND RELEASES THE SWITCH, OR SHALL BE EQUIPPED
WITH FRICTION OR SAFETY CLUTCHES.

(F)      LOCOMOTIVES IN GASSY MINES.—ANY
EXPLOSION-TESTED CABLE-REEL LOCOMOTIVE IN A GASSY MINE
SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH TWO-CONDUCTOR TRAILING CABLES.
