890                                        LAWS OF MARYLAND                             [Ch. 4

(C) FIRE-BOSS CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE AN

APPLICANT FOR A FIRE - BOSS CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE
SHALL PRODUCE EVIDENCE SATISFACTORY TO THE EXAMINING
AUTHORITY THAT HE IS A RESIDENT OF THE STATE, AND AT
LEAST [[21]] 18 YEARS OF AGE. HE SHALL FURNISH A
VERIFIED HISTORY OF HIS EXPERIENCE IN MINING
EMPLOYMENT, SHOWING IN DETAIL THE SEVERAL MINES IN
WHICH HE HAS WORKED, THEIR LOCATION, THE PARTICULAR
EMPLOYMENT FOLLOWED DURING A PERIOD OF AT LEAST ONE
YEAR, AND, IN PARTICULAR, HIS KNOWLEDGE OF AND EXTENT
OF EXPERIENCE WITH GASEOUS MINES. EACH APPLICANT
SHALL PAY AN EXAMINATION FEE OF $3 TO THE STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears
as Article 66C, section 510(c) of the Code,
as amended by Chapter 651, H.B. 299, Acts
of 1973. The age requirement is lowered
from 2 1 to 18 in light of Chapter 651, Acts
of 1973. The only changes made are in
style.

7-304. BUREAU TO INSTRUCT APPLICANT FOP CERTIFICATE
OF COMPETENCE.

THE BUREAU MAY ESTABLISH A PLACE WITHIN THE
MINING AREA OF THE STATE TO GIVE INSTRUCTION TO AN
APPLICANT FOR "FIRST-CLASS MINE FOREMAN'S
CERTIFICATE", "FIRE-BOSS CERTIFICATE", "PERMIT OF
COMPETENCE", AND OTHER INSTRUCTION REQUIRED UNDER THIS
SUBTITLE, OR ANY PULE AND REGULATION MADE UNDER IT.
THE BUREAU SHALL CONDUCT COURSES AS OFTEN AS FEASIBLE
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY PROPERLY ANY PERSON WHO MAKES
APPLICATION FOR THE VARIOUS TYPES OF CERTIFICATES.
THE BUREAU MAY COOPERATE WITH THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF
MINES TO OBTAIN NECESSARY EQUIPMENT IN ORDER TO
CONDUCT THE PRESCRIBED COURSES OF INSTRUCTION. IT
SHALL MAKE POSSIBLE NECESSARY INSTRUCTION RELATING TO
GASSY MINES IN ORDER THAT APPLICANTS SEEKING TO
QUALIFY FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF CERTIFICATES MAY RECEIVE
TRAINING WITHIN THE STATE AND NOT BE REQUIRED TO GO
OUTSIDE THE STATE TO RECEIVE THE TRAINING. THE
PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION MAY BE MADE IN COOPERATION WITH
THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF MINES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Article 66C, section 497 of the Code. The
reference to "or places" is proposed for
deletion in light of Article 1, section 8,
which provides that reference to the
singular is deemed to include the plural
unless the context is unreasonable. The
