6-308. PENALTY.
ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SUBTITLE IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON
CONVICTION SUBJECT TO A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN $500.

SUBTITLE 4. INTERSTATE OIL AND GAS COMPACT.
6-401. GOVERNOR DIRECTED TO JOIN IN NAME OF STATE.
THE GOVERNOR, FOR AND IN THE NAME OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, SHALL JOIN WITH OTHER STATES IN THE
INTERSTATE COMPACT TO CONSERVE OIL AND GAS, WHICH WAS
EXECUTED IN DALLAS, TEXAS, ON FEBRUARY 16, 1935, AND
IS NOW DEPOSITED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE OF THE
UNITED STATES, AND WHICH HAS BEEN EXTENDED WITH THE
CONSENT OF CONGRESS.
REVISOR's NOTE: This section presently appears as
Article 66C, section 689A of the Code.
Reference to "September 1, 1959", is
proposed for deletion since this date is
obsolete, the compact having been extended
past that time. The only other changes
made are in style.
6-402. EXTENSIONS AND WITHDRAWAL AUTHORIZED.
THE GOVERNOR, FOR AND IN THE NAME OF THE STATE,
MAY EXECUTE AGREEMENTS FOR THE FURTHER EXTENSION OF
THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE COMPACT AND TO DETERMINE
IF, AND WEEN, IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STATE
TO WITHDRAW FROM THE COMPACT, UPON 60 DAYS' NOTICE AS
PROVIDED BY ITS TERMS. IF THE GOVERNOR DETERMINES
THAT THE STATE SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM THE COMPACT, HE
MAY GIVE THE NECESSARY NOTICE AND TAKE ALL STEPS
NECESSARY TO EFFECT THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE STATE FROM
