82                                              LAWS OF MARYLAND                                 [Ch. 2

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN §2-602, THE CLERICAL,
ADMINISTRATIVE, AND CONSTABULAR EMPLOYEES OF THE
DISTRICT COURT SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE CHIEF JUDGE
OF THE DISTRICT COURT ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE
ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE FOR THE DISTRICT AND SHALL BE IN
THE STATE SERVICE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) presently appears
as the first sentence of Art. 26, §149(a).
The only changes made are in style.

Subsection (b) is new language derived from
the last two sentences of Art. 26, §149(b).
The remainder of §149(b) is obsolete and is
proposed for repeal.

SEC. 2-602. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS.

(A)   CHIEF CLERK.

THE CHIEF CLERK IS APPOINTED BY AND SERVES AT THE
PLEASURE OF THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE DISTRICT COURT.

(B)   CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK.

A CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK IS APPOINTED BY THE
CHIEF JUDGE OF THE DISTRICT COURT, UPON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE OF THE
DISTRICT AND SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE CHIEF JUDGE
OF THE DISTRICT COURT.

(C)   TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT.

THE CHIEF CLERK OF THE DISTRICT COURT AND THE
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE CLERKS OF THE DISTRICTS SHALL BE
IN THE STATE SERVICE BUT NOT IN THE CLASSIFIED
SERVICE, AND SHALL RECEIVE THE COMPENSATION PRESCRIBED
BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Art. 26, §149(a). Subsection (a) presently
appears as the second sentence of Art. 26,
§149(a). Subsection (b) presently appears
as the third sentence of Art. 26, §149(a).
Subsection (c) presently appears as the
fourth sentence of Art. 26, §149(a). The
first sentence of Art. 26, §149(a) appears
in §2—601. The only other changes made are
in style.
