596                                       LAWS 0? MARYLAND                            [Ch. 4

VIRGINIA, EVIDENCE THEIR AGREEMENT TO THE PROVISIONS
OF THIS COMPACT BY BECOMING PARTIES SIGNATORY THIS,
THE TWENTIETH DAY OF DECEMBER, IN THE YEAR ONE
THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-EIGHT, AT MOUNT
VERNON, IN VIRGINIA; AND NOW WITNESSETH:

COMMISSIONERS ON THE COMMISSIONERS ON THE
PART OF MARYLAND                        PART OF VIRGINIA

(S)       CARIYLE BARTON                           (S)       MILLS E. GODWIN, JR.

(S)       WILLIAM J. MCWILLIAMS        (S)       HOWARD H. ADAMS

(S)       M. WILLIAM ADELSON                (S)       EDWARD E. LANE

(S)       STEPHEN R. COLLINS                (S)       ROBERT BUTTON

(S)       EDWARD S. DELAPLAINE           (S)       JOHN WARREN COOKE

REVISOR'S NOTE: This compact presently appears as
Article 66C, section 261A of the Code.
Since it is an interstate compact, no
changes have been made in the language,
even though, questions of style aside, the
reference to agencies such as the
"Tidewater Fisheries Commission" in Article
1, Section 2, should be Department of
Natural Resources. See Chapter 348, Acts
of 1972. The phrase "thence northwesterly
following the ridge of Heron Island Bar to
its westerly extremity" is added to Article
II of the Compact. This phrase was
eliminated by Chapter 54, Acts of 1964 on
the condition that the amendment would not
be effective unless the Virginia
legislature took similar action. As of
this date, the Virginia legislature has not
acted so this phrase must be included to
avoid a substantive change.
