3-131. VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES.

ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY PROVISION OF THIS
SUBTITLE, OR ANY RULE OR REGULATION PROMULGATED BY THE
SERVICE IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION
IS SUBJECT TO A FINE NOT EXCEEDING $1,000 FOR EACH
VIOLATION. A SEPARATE OFFENSE SHALL EXIST FOR EACH
DAY A VIOLATION OCCURS.

THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE ARE SEVERABLE,
AND IF ANY OF ITS PROVISIONS ARE HELD UNCONSTITUTIONAL
BY ANY COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION, THE DECISION
OF THE COURT SHALL NOT AFFECT ANY OF THE REMAINING
PROVISIONS. ]]

SUBTITLE 2. MARYLAND ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST.

3-201. (A) CREATION, CONTINUATION, AND PURPOSE.--THE

MARYLAND ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST IS CREATED AND CONTINUED
TO CONSERVE, IMPROVE, STIMULATE, AND PERPETUATE THE
AESTHETIC, NATURAL, HEALTH AND WELFARE, SCENIC, AND
CULTURAL QUALITIES OF THE ENVIRONMENT, INCLUDING, BUT
NOT LIMITED TO LAND, WATER, AIR, WILDLIFE, SCENIC
QUALITIES, OPEN SPACES, BUILDINGS OR ANY INTEREST
THEREIN, AND OTHER APPURTENANCES PERTAINING IN ANY WAY
TO THE STATES THROUGH EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER MEANS, THE
TRUST SHALL ENCOURAGE AND MOTIVATE THE POPULACE OF THE
STATE AND OTHERS TO DO SO, AND PROMOTE CONTINUING
INTEREST IN AND THE STUDY OF THESE MATTERS. THE
PURPOSE OF THE TRUST IS OF GENERAL BENEFIT TO THE
CITIZENS OF THE STATE AND IT IS CHARITABLE IN NATURE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears
as Article 41, section 181L of the Code.
The last sentence is taken from the first
sentence of section 181M. The only other
changes made are in style.
