MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                                 479

Article 66C, section 110J of the Code. The
only changes made are in style.

2-304. ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON ARCHAEOLOGY.

(A) COMMITTEE CREATED AND CONTINUED;
ORGANIZATION.—THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON ARCHAEOLOGY
IS CREATED AND CONTINUED. IT CONSISTS OF FIVE MEMBERS
WHOM THE DIRECTOR OF THE SURVEY APPOINTS FROM AMONG
CITIZENS OF THE STATE WHO HAVE SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE IN
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATTERS INCLUDING REPRESENTATIVES OF
REPUTABLE MUSEUMS, INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION,
AND RECOGNIZED SCIENTIFIC OR HISTORICAL SOCIETIES OR
INSTITUTIONS. A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE SERVES AN
INDEFINITE TERM. A VACANCY IS FILLED IN THE SAME
MANNER AS AN ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT. THE COMMITTEE
SHALL CHOOSE A CHAIRMAN. A COMMITTEE MEMBER MAY NOT
RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR HIS SERVICES BUT SHALL BE
REIMBURSED FOR NECESSARY TRAVEL EXPENSES AND
DISBURSEMENTS MADE IN ORDER TO ATTEND ANY MEETING OR
PERFORM ANY OTHER OFFICIAL DUTY. THERE SHALL BE AT
LEAST FOUR MEETINGS A YEAR HELD AT THE CALL OF THE
CHAIRMAN. THE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST SHALL ATTEND ALL
ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Article 66C, section 110H of the Code. The
language providing for expenses to be paid
out of the survey's budget is proposed for
deletion as unnecessary since it is
understood that this can be done only if
the budget specifically provides for it.
The revision of commission to director of
the survey in terms of appointment
authority is explained in the revisor's
note to section 2—302. The only other
changes made are in style.

(B) DUTIES.—THE COMMITTEE SHALL ADVISE    THE

SURVEY ON ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATTERS AND PROPOSE RULES   AND

REGULATIONS REGARDING ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATTERS FOR     ITS
REVIEW AND APPROPRIATE ACTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears
as Article 66C, section 110—I of the Code.
It is revised to reflect the fact that
under Chapter 154, Acts of 1969, the
function of the commission was changed and
made solely advisory. The survey and its
director now perform decision making. The
only other changes made are in style.
