282                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND                            [Ch. 2

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) presently appears
as Art. 51, §13 (b).

Subsection (b) is new language derived from
Art. 51, §5(b) now §8-206 (failure to comply
with summons to fill out a juror
qualification form) and combined with Art.
51, §9 (f) (failure to appear for or complete
jury service).

Subsection (c) presently appears as Art. 51,
§5(b).

Subsection (d) presently appears as Art. 51,
§10(f).

The legislature should note that the
sanctions provided in this section,
especially in subsection (b), are fairly
weak, and may be considered by some to be the
price for avoiding jury service. At least
one county provides a $500 fine and 30 days
in jail for the offenses covered by
§8-401 (b).

The only changes in these sections are in
style and location.
