SEC. 4-503. APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES.

THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE DISTRICT COURT SHALL
DESIGNATE TWO JUDGES SITTING IN THE SIXTH DISTRICT
WHOSE PRIMARY DUTY SHALL BE THE HANDLING OF JUVENILE
CAUSES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language
derived from Art. 26, § 73. Art. 26, §73
is proposed for repeal. Art. 26, §§72 and
145(d), giving the District Court
jurisdiction in juvenile causes, now
appear, in substance, as §§ 1—604 and
4—403, respectively, of this article, and
are proposed for repeal.

SEC. 4-504. JURISDICTION OVER JUVENILES.

(A)   EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED, THE COURT HAS
EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION IN PROCEEDINGS CONCERNING ANY
CHILD WITHIN MONTGOMERY COUNTY WHO IS ALLEGED TO BE
DELINQUENT, DEPENDENT, NEGLECTED, OR IN NEED OF
SUPERVISION.

(B)   POWERS OF COURT.

AFTER GIVING THE PARENTS A REASONABLE   OPPORTUNITY

TO BE HEARD AND UNLESS THE CHILD IS      UNDER THE

JURISDICTION OF A CIRCUIT COURT OF THE      STATE, THE
COURT MAY:

(1)   DETERMINE WHO WILL HAVE CUSTODY OF THE
PERSON OF THE CHILD AND THE RIGHTS OF THE PARENTS; OR

(2)   ORDER EITHER OF THE PARENTS TO PAY FOR
THE CHILD'S SUPPORT, IN WHOLE OR IN PART; OR BOTH.
