LIVESTOCK FOR SLAUGHTER IN THE STATE. ON AND AFTER
THE DATE SPECIFIED IN THE LETTER, THE ASSESSMENTS
SHALL BE DEDUCTED BY THE PURCHASER, OR HIS AGENT OR
REPRESENTATIVE, FROM THE PURCHASE PRICE OF ANY
LIVESTOCK BOUGHT, ACQUIRED, OR SOLD FOR SLAUGHTER.

(B) REMITTANCE.

THE DEDUCTED ASSESSMENT FOR ANY MONTH SHALL BE
REMITTED BY THE PURCHASER TO THE SECRETARY BY THE 20TH
DAY OF THE FOLLOWING MONTH, THE SECRETARY SHALL PAY
THE AMOUNT OF THE ASSESSMENT TO THE CERTIFIED AGENCY.

(C)   INSPECTION OF BOOKS AND RECORDS.

THE BOOKS AND RECORDS OF EVERY LIVESTOCK DEALER,

OPERATOR OF ANY LIVESTOCK AUCTION MARKET

SLAUGHTERHOUSE, [[ABATTOIR,]] PACKINGHOUSE, OR PERSON
ENGAGED IN BUYING, ACQUIRING, OR SELLING LIVESTOCK FOR
SLAUGHTER SHALL BE OPEN FOR THE INSPECTION BY THE
SECRETARY AT ANY TIME DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS.

(D)    FAILURE TO DEDUCT OR PAY DEDUCTED ASSESSMENT
PROHIBITED.

A LIVESTOCK DEALER, OPERATOR OF ANY LIVESTOCK

AUCTION MARKET SLAUGHTERHOUSE, [[ABATTOIR,]]

PACKINGHOUSE, OR ITS MANAGERS, OR AGENTS, OR ANY
PERSON WHO BUYS, SELLS, OR HANDLES LIVESTOCK FOR
SLAUGHTER IN THE STATE MAY NOT FAIL TO COLLECT OR PAY
THE DEDUCTED ASSESSMENTS TO THE SECRETARY.

(E)   ENFORCEMENT.

IF ANY PERSON VIOLATES THE PROVISIONS OF

SUBSECTION (D), THE CERTIFIED AGENCY CONCERNED MAY

INSTITUTE JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS TO ENFORCE THE
ASSESSMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) presently appears
as the first sentence of Art. 66C, §83R of
the Code. The present reference to "firms
and corporations" is proposed for deletion in
light of the definition of person in
§1-101(e). The second sentence is proposed
for deletion because it appears as new
language in subsection (e). New language is
added to this section by amendment to
indicate that this section applies to
livestock dealers as defined in §3—301 (b) and
the present reference to "abattoirs" is
