MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                                 1413

(K) PUBLIC SAFETY AND CORRECTIONAL SERVICES.
(L) STATE PLANNING.
(M) TRANSPORTATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Section 2 of this Bill repeals
certain provisions of Article 41 pertaining to
the Department of Natural Resources. They are
restated in the Natural Resources Article
(Section 1). Other revision bills will handle in
like fashion statutes dealing with several other
principal departments. It thus seems useful to
insert in Article 41 (for eventual incorporation
in the State Government Article) a single
comprehensive listing of the principal
departments. New Section 2A, above, is arranged
in subsections to facilitate future amendment.

SECTION 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That nothing
in this Act affects the term of office of an appointed
member of any board, commission, committee or other
agency or unit. A person who is a member of such a
unit on the effective date of this Act shall remain a
member for the balance of the term to which he was
appointed, unless he sooner dies, resigns, or is
removed pursuant to the provisions of law.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Section 7 is intended to make it
clear that no board, commission, or
committee affected by the Act is abolished.
Therefore, no terms of members become
vacant; instead, persons in office on the
effective date of the act remain in office
for the balance of the term. This is
constitutionally required, in any event;
see Art. XVI, § 2 of the Constitution.

SECTION 8. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
continuity of every other department, board,
commission or agency affected by this Act, and not
abolished by it, is retained. The personnel, records,
files, furniture and fixtures and other properties and
all appropriations, credits, assets, liabilities, and
obligations of each retained agency are continued as
the personnel, records, files, furniture, fixtures.
