277.
(a) Creation and composition; appointment and
terms of members; vacancies.—There is hereby created,
as part of the [Department of Natural Resources,]
DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATION, the Maryland
Board of Examiners of Landscape Architects which shall
consist of three (3) members. The Board shall be
[[apppointed]] appointed by the Governor upon the
recommendation of the Secretary of Natural Resources
with the advice and consent of the Senate. The
members of the Board shall to registered landscape
architects of recognized standing having engaged in
the practice of landscape architecture in the State of
Maryland for a period of five (5) years or more at the
time of their appointments, except that the original
appointees to the Board need not be registered but
shall be persons who have engaged in the practice of
landscape architecture in this State for a period of
at least seven (7) years and who hold a degree from an
approved college or school of landscape architecture.
The terms of office of said members shall be three (3)
years of which one term expires each year; any vacancy
occurring at any time in the membership of the Board
shall be filled by the Governor appointing a successor
for the unexpired term.
REVISOR'S NOTE: The amendments to Article 41,
Section 221A(a) and Article 56, Section
277 (a) implement the establishment of the
Board of Examiners of Landscape Architects
and the State Board of Registration for
Foresters within the Department of
Licensing and Regulation along with other
boards or units whose principal duty is
business or professional licensing.
SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That a new
Section 7A of Article 23A, Annotated Code of Maryland
(1973 Repl. Vol., as added to or amended by
legislation enacted at the 1973 regular session of the
General Assembly), title "Corporations - Municipal",
subtitle "In General", and a new Section 2A of Article
41 of said Code (1971 Repl. Vol. and 1972 Supplement
as added to or amended by legislation enacted at the
