MARVIN MANDEL, Governor

1165

HULL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER THE DEPARTMENT ASSIGNS TO
ANY VESSEL WITHOUT THE DEPARTMENT'S PERMISSION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) replaces Article
14B, section 4N(a) of the Code. It
conforms to the Federal Boat Safety Act of
1971 which new requires that a vessel whose
construction starts after October 31, 1972
must have a hull identification number of a
certain type permanently affixed outside
the transom above the water line.

Subsection(b) presently appears as Article
14B, section 4N(b) of the Code. The
reference to "firm, association, or
corporation" is proposed for deletion
because "person" already is defined in
section 8—101(h). The references to serial
number are changed to hull identification
number to conform with correct
nomenclatural designation. The only other
changes made are in style.

8-712.
