Security Guard; and to prohibit the use of the terms "Special Police" and
"Special Officer" and require that the term "Security Guard" be used in lieu
thereof.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 85 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1972 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Private Detectives," be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
85.
(A) The Superintendent, in his discretion, may authorize any licensee under this
subtitle to wear a badge or shield or to permit any of his, their or its officers,
operators or employees to wear such badge or shield indicating that fact; but every
uniformed guard or watchman shall wear or display an identifying shield or badge.
THE [[UNIFORM AND]] BADGE OR SHIELD SHALL BE SUBJECT TO
APPROVAL BY THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE MARYLAND STATE
POLICE. Without such express authority, no person licensed under the provisions
of this subtitle, or the officers, directors, employees, operators or agents thereof,
shall wear, carry or accept any badge or shield purporting to indicate that such
person is a private detective or investigator or connected with the private detective
business.
(B) THE USE OF THE TERMS "SPECIAL POLICE" AND "SPECIAL
OFFICER" BY PRIVATE DETECTIVES AND INVESTIGATORS OR ANY
PERSON CONNECTED WITH THE PRIVATE DETECTIVE BUSINESS AS
SET FORTH IN THIS SUBTITLE IS PROHIBITED. IN LIEU THEREOF,
THE TERM "SECURITY GUARD" SHALL BE USED.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, [[Section 266-O(3)]] Sections
266-O(3) and 266T of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland ([[1971
Replacement Volume and]] 1972 Supplement), title "Governor - Executive and
Administrative Departments," subtitle "Department of Economic and
Community Development," subheading "Maryland Industrial Development
Financing Authority Act," to expand that part of the definition of "Industrial
Project" relating to tourist industry facilities.to include tourist and convention
facilities, with exceptions, in the kinds of industrial development facilities which
qualify for mortgage loan insurance by the Maryland Industrial Development
Financing Authority and to provide for the amount of. mortgage loan which can
be insured in the case of tourist and convention facilities.
