CHAPTER 303
(House Bill 473)

AN ACT to add new Section 4A to Article 89B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "State Roads," subtitle "In
General," to follow immediately after Section 4 thereof, providing that all sign
inspectors employed by the State Roads Commission shall be subject to the
provisions of Article 64A of the Code, and relating also to future appointments
to this category of employment.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 4A be and it is hereby added to Article 89B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "State
Roads," subtitle "In General," to follow immediately after Section 4 thereof, and
to read as follows:

4A.

ALL SIGN INSPECTORS EMPLOYED BY THE STATE ROADS
COMMISSION ON JULY 1, 1973, SHALL CONTINUE IN THE SAME
CLASSIFICATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF
ARTICLE 64A OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND. THEY
SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE RIGHTS, PRIVILEGES, AND DUTIES
PROVIDED BY ARTICLE 64A AND GENERALLY CONSIDERED AS
MEMBERS OF THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE UNDER THAT ARTICLE.
VACANCIES IN OR ADDITIONS TO THE POSITION OF SIGN
INSPECTOR SHALL BE FILLED BY THE STATE ROADS COMMISSION
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 64A.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 304
(House Bill 519)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 16-7 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1969 Edition, being Article 4 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore City," subtitle "16. Police
Department," to [[require]] permit the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City
to create an Auxiliary Police Force within the Police Department of Baltimore
City; to specify the duties of the Auxiliary Police Force; to require the
recruitment of volunteer personnel to staff the Auxiliary Police Force where
possible to require a certain reporting: and to clarify the language therein.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 16-7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City (1969 Edition, being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Baltimore City," subtitle "16. Police Department," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
