affect or impair any of the remaining provisions.

SECTION 3. Effective date. This Act shall take
effect on the 76th day following the date en which it
becomes law.

AN ACT to add a new Article IV, titled "Commission for
Women" to Chapter 77 of the Montgomery County
Code 1965, to follow immediately after Article
III, to create a Commission for Women which shall
develop when necessary an information and
referral system for all services in the County
related specifically to the needs of women; shall
serve as the focus and the forum for the
identification and amelioration of the unique
problems faced by women in our society and the
practice of discrimination or prejudice that may
exist on account of sex; shall research, study,
analyze and investigate matters relating to such
problems and practices; shall utilize educational
programs and use persuasion in the elimination of
such problems and practices; and shall make
recommendations for procedures, programs or
legislation to meet the needs of women and to
overcome discrimination that may exist on account
of sex; and to have the County Executive, with
the approval of the County Council, appoint
members to the Commission for Women.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND, That a new Article
IV, titled "Commission for Women" is hereby added to
Chapter 77 of the Montgomery County Code 1965, as
amended, to follow immediately after Article III,
thereof and to read as follows:
