COUNTY LOCAL LAWS

SECTION 9. Section 2-173, Chapter 2, title
"Administration," of the Montgomery County Code 1965,
and Sections 88-6, 88—8, 88-9, and 88-10, Montgomery
County Code 1965, Article 2, title "Department of
Health,¹¹ Chapter 88, title "Health and Sanitation,"
Montgomery County Code 1965, are hereby repealed.

SECTION 10. A new Section 2-16B, title
"Administration," subtitle "Department of Community
and Economic Development," is hereby added to the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, to read as
follows:

2-16B. DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT.

THERE IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED A DEPARTMENT OF
COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNDER THE IMMEDIATE
DIRECTION OF A DIRECTOR WHO SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE
COUNTY EXECUTIVE SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL. THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS AND
ACTIVITIES:

(A)   PLANNING FOR COUNTY FACILITIES, REVIEW OF
AREA AND FUNCTIONAL MASTER PLANS, AND CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAMMING.

(B)  HOUSING.

(C)  INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT.

(D)  COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.

1.   URBAN RENEWAL AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
PROJECTS.

2.    RELOCATION SERVICES FOR FAMILIES AND
BUSINESSES DISPLACED BY GOVERNMENTAL ACTION.

(E)   ARCHITECTURAL AND BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
SERVICES INCLUDING THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ALL
BUILDINGS AND PARKING STRUCTURES FOP THE COUNTY AND
PARKING LOT DISTRICTS.

SECTION 11. A new Section 2-16C, Chapter 2, title
"Administration," subtitle "Department of Correction
and Rehabilitation," is hereby added to the Montgomery
