the term of court in which such consent,
conviction or pleas is had, to:
(1) Suspend the imposition of
sentence; or
(2) Place such person on
probation without finding a
verdict; and
(3) Make such conditions of
suspension of sentence and
probation as the court may deem
proper.
Sec. 7.108 — Justices of the Peace; committing
magistrates.
(a) The Governor by and with the advice and
consent of the Senate shall appoint justices of
the peace in Howard County who shall be
designated committing magistrates of the People's
Court of Howard County and who from and after
January 1, 1965, shall have throughout the county
all the powers and jurisdiction vested by law in
justices of the peace other than trial
magistrates and substitute trial magistrates.
(b) From and after January 1, 1965, the
committing magistrates shall receive an annual
salary set by the County Council.
(c) The committing magistrates shall sit at
such times and places and shall perform such
duties as are assigned to them by the Chief Judge
of the People's Court. In the conduct and
administration of their affairs they shall
conform to such practices and procedures,
consistent with law, as are prescribed by the
Chief Clerk of the People's Court with the
approval of the Chief Judge thereof-
Sec. 7.109 - Chief Clerk and Duties.
(a) There shall be a Chief Clerk of the
People's Court who shall be appointed by the
Chief Judge, receive an annual salary of not less
than four thousand ($4,000) Dollars to be set by
the County Council and give bond corporate
surety, conditioned upon the proper performance
of his duties, in such amount as the Chief Judge
shall prescribe, the premium of which shall be
paid by the County.
(b) The Chief Clerk shall perform duties
prescribed for Clerks of Court by Section 10 of
